Because the basic steps involved in fixing teeth are the same in adults as they are in children, orthodontic treatment can be successful at ANY age.

It is recommended by the Ontario, Canadian and American Associations of Orthodontics, however, that every child see an orthodontist by the time they’re seven years old.

Many orthodontic problems are easier to correct if they’re detected early.  If your child has a problem that requires attention, your orthodontist may recommend interceptive treatment, which takes place as the child’s  face and jaws are still growing and new teeth are coming in.

Intervention at this stage can lessen the severity of a problem and makes the completion of treatment at a later age less time consuming and complicated.

Interceptive treatment has a number of benefits:

it can help a child avoid fracture or loss of teeth that protrude;

it ensures proper jaw and tooth alignment;

it can help with speech development;

all which contribute to a child’s self esteem.

It’s never too late to get orthodontic treatment.

Only a Certified OAO Orthodontist knows the best time to start YOUR treatment.
